PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

APRIL UPDATE & 2026 AGM

MAAC Members,

The month of April has been particularly active for MAAC, and I would like to take a moment to provide you with a clear update on our progress, as well as highlight the importance of your participation in our Annual General Meeting.

MAAC 2.0 – Moving Forward

Since the beginning of the year, our efforts have been focused on the rollout of MAAC 2.0.

Today, we have:

  1. An increasingly functional maac.ca portal
  • News and updates from the zones
  • Communications from committees and advisory groups
  1. Modern tools for members and clubs:
  • Quick access to information
  • Search functionality for flying sites and their qualifications
  • Club tools including:
    • Event management
    • Site management
    • Automatic Site Survey updates every 56 days; Stay tuned for more details on this topic
  1. An improved structure for managing sites, events, and communications.

Yes, there are still adjustments to be made.
Yes, some irritants have been identified.

  • General site search
    • is still under construction and we know it isn't working properly

But let’s be clear: we are moving in the right direction.

The platform continues to evolve weekly, in collaboration with our teams and thanks to your feedback.

egulation & Transport Canada

April also brought important progress in our collaboration with Transport Canada.

Concrete improvements have been achieved in our SFOCs:

  • Reduction of certain administrative requirements
(including the removal of the obligation to track rest periods in pilot logbooks)
  • Better alignment with the realities of aeromodelling
  • Maintaining open, constructive, and ongoing dialogue with authorities, with a focus on collaboration and positive engagement.

These advancements are the direct result of the dedicated work of our Executive, Board of Directors, Advisory Groups and Committees and representatives.

Sites, Events, and Community

We continue to actively focus on:

  • Developing and protecting our flying sites
  • Improving event approval processes
  • Supporting clubs across the country

Our objective is simple:

To provide members with a safe, structured, and sustainable environment to enjoy their passion.

MAAC is, above all, a community of faithful aeromodellers.

We all have opinions.
We sometimes have disagreements.

But we must always remain united by what brings us together:

The passion for aeromodelling.

Respect, collaboration, and engagement are essential to building the future of our organization.

In Closing

We have made significant progress.
There is still work ahead, of course.

But the direction is clear.
And the energy is strong.

Let’s continue moving forward together.

I sincerely thank you for your trust and your commitment. And thank you again to everyone who participated in our AGM.
