LGA-AC8646 March 22, 2026, Accident
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE MAAC PRESIDENT
On Sunday, March 22nd, a terrible accident occurred in the world of aviation, a world that we, as aeromodellers, deeply share through our passion, our airspace, and our respect for the same authorities.
While MAAC represents model aviation, we are, at our core, part of the broader aviation community.
It is not my role, nor my intention, to comment on or speculate about the circumstances of this tragic event. The appropriate authorities and experts will conduct their analysis with the professionalism and rigor that such a situation requires.
What truly matters at this moment is the human impact.
Our thoughts are with all those affected, the victims, their families, and the many individuals whose lives have been touched by this tragedy. This includes not only those onboard, but also the emergency responders, air traffic controllers, airport personnel, and all those who witnessed or were involved in the aftermath. The emotional impact of such an event reaches far beyond what we can see.
As pilots, whether model or full-scale, we share a unique bond. Today, we mourn together.
In this context, I respectfully ask all MAAC members to refrain from speculation or public commentary. Out of respect for those affected, let us allow the experts to do their work.
Instead, I invite you to join me in offering our thoughts, respect, and support to all those impacted, and to their loved ones.
March 22nd will remain a deeply marked day in our collective memory.
Alain Carpentier
President
