Battle of AlbertaThe Windy West Fliers , the Edmonton RC Society (ERCS) and the Calgary Radio Aeromodelers (CRAMs) are promoting a province wide series of combat events with pilots welcome from all over Alberta and other provinces.
The second event is being held at the CRAMs field near Calgary on June 24th and will feature open class combat. (first event on June 4th at ERCS and third on July 22nd at Windy West, see MAAC postings for details)
The CRAMs field is located ½ km south of Irricana just east of Highway #9.
Pilot registration is from 9;30 am and first round planned for 10:30. Event will run until approximately 3:30 with as many rounds held as possible so charge your batteries!
Pilot registration fee of $5.00 will cover BBQ lunch. Spectators are encouraged and a BBQ lunch of hot dogs and burgers for $5.00 will be available.
Experienced and new pilots to combat are welcome and encouraged to attend. The event will be run as a fun combat event where each round will be 5 minutes in duration and pilots self score each round. Help , advice and assistance new to the sport of RC combat is available from any of the event leaders listed below. All pilots must have passed the equivalence of the MAAC Wings test and must be active members of MAAC.
Both events will consist of rounds with up to 8 aircraft and follow MAAC combat safety rules with streamers and safety equipment (hard hats ) supplied for all pilots and helpers.
The open class event will have a max engine size of 0.46. All engines must be muffled in accordance with MAAC noise guidelines. Any type of aircraft is welcome in open class although high durability , maneuverable and reasonable speed generally have an advantage in this class. Both 72 Mhz and 2.4 GHz radios acceptable.
